Preventing Colon Cancer - September 14th, 2009
Three years ago my aunt was diagnosed with colon cancer. There is no history of colon cancer in my family, but sure enough she had it. They told her at the time of diagnosis that it probably was not terminal, but that it would be a fairly rough battle as she fought through the treatments. It was difficult as she went through chemo treatments every other day because she was very sick, tired, and had no energy. The type of chemo that she had did not cause her to lose her hair, but it did take a lot out of her physically.
She went through treatments for a year, and then they went down to every other week eventually. Now that it is three years later, I see my aunt and even though she is not doing any treatments, she still has a very low energy level, and the cancer even though in remission right now has taken so much out of her. She is very thin, gets cold easily, and does not look very well. This disease has taken so much life out of my aunt. It is so important to take care of your body. If that means doing a colon cleanse a few times a year, I think it is worth it. I personally would much rather doing that, than dealing with the effects of cancer for the rest of my life.
Colonics - September 11th, 2009
Have you ever heard of a little thing call colonics? Well, I was just informed of such a thing, and I do not really think that it sounds like a very fun thing to do. When I asked what in the world it is, I found out more information than I felt like I really needed to. I am about to share some information that I learned, so if you are a bit squeamish, stop reading now.
Colonics is similar to an enema on a much larger scale. The colonics person hooks you up to tube which goes up your rear, and way up into your colon, the other end goes into the toilet. The colonics person then shoots the water up your colon, which when it becomes very full will then come with great power out your rear and into the toilet. It is supposed to clean all of the impurities out of your colon, and it supposed to be a very healthy thing to do. Well, I have had a regular enema before, and that is about all that I want to do. Sure after doing an enema you feel like a whole new clean person, but it is not an enjoyable process.
Cleansing The Body - September 10th, 2009
Have you ever had a plumbing problem and had to call a plumber out to take a look at your pipes? Then when he gets there he tells you that you have a fairly serious problem and he is going to have to go into the pipes to clean them out. He then goes to his truck and comes back with this device or tool called a “snake” and begins to run it as far down the pipe he can to loosen any debris that may have clogged the pipe.
If you have experienced this before then you will also be able to recall the foul odor that then comes once he completes this task. This odor usually stems from food and other waste that has built up and is now clogging the pipe. Some of this waste makes its way back up the pipe via the “snake” and sits in your house until cleaned up. It is not a pretty site. Usually a darker colored slime is what it looks like. At the conclusion of this process he will give some instruction on how to better maintain your pipes so this problem does not occur again. This whole process sounds fairly familiar to me. Sounds to me like we should eat right and exercise so we don’t need some guy we don’t know very well taking a look at our pipes
How Many People Have A Clogged Colon? - September 9th, 2009
Do you know what the 2nd deadliest cancer in the world is? Colon cancer is a serious problem that can be protected. I have seen pictures that show the inside of a colon that has been neglected through poor eating habits and other harmful health issues. If knowing that colon cancer is that big of a danger and that it is a real threat to kill you wouldn’t you want to protect yourself? I think that one of the real problems with colon cancer is that most people are not that educated with it. This is something that we try to shy away from because for what ever reason it is an uncomfortable thing to discuss.
It seems far too personal to discuss openly. There are things you can do and they are not that hard. For example, starting with a healthier more balanced meal will really help to get you on the right track. A great deal of trouble comes from eating poorly and not allowing your digestive system to function as it should. A second option is to add a colon cleansing supplement to your diet. This will help you digestive system to work better and help to get rid of the bacteria that builds up on the walls of your colon. Use these two simple steps to help you to live a long healthy life.
Exercise Helps The Body - September 9th, 2009
How important is an active lifestyle? Being active relates directly to your body weight. If you are able to find time to do some sort of exercise you are more likely to be closer to your ideal body weight. This is in contrast to others who are less active and spend more time watching T.V. rather than doing something in the way of exercise. I have noticed in relation to this theory, that when you go to a place where most people work behind a desk, appear to be over weight. I would have to assume a large amount of these people have a weight problem based on their profession.
I have not noticed as many construction workers who are over weight as opposed to the desk worker. This is not to say that there are not people in both professions who break their mold. It just seems to be the law of averages form the people you see on a daily basis. Take notice of your day. How much moving around are you doing? If you find yourself sitting a lot during the course of the day, give yourself the chance to get up and move around for a few minutes to get your heart rate up and your blood flowing. Get up and do something, it is good for you.
Acai Berry Cleanse - September 8th, 2009
My sister saw a link on the computer about acai berry and colon cleansing as a diet online. There are all sorts of links on various sites on the internet, that tell a number of different amazing success stories about the benefits of adding both of these things into your diet regimen. When I see stories like this, I always wonder if there is any truth to them. My sister told me about clicking on one of these links, and she signed herself up for the “free samples”. After doing this, she had to then call each of the places that she received the free samples from, to discontinue her membership, or order.
What a lot of those companies do, is give you a free sample, but in turn you pay with a credit card for the shipping and handling. They then have your card on file, and in essence you are signed up to receive these things monthly unless you call to cancel. She did call and cancel, without a whole lot of trouble, but it did take time and patience in doing it. Of course like I mentioned, the stories they told had amazing results. After trying these two products together, my sister actually noticed nothing. No change in weight, no increase in her energy levels, nothing. Would she recommend it? No. It wasn’t a huge financial loss, but really there were no benefits either.
Flushing The Body Out With Water - September 7th, 2009
Have you ever thought how much soda you drink in a week? I used to drink more than my fair share of soda during the course of a week or even the day. I recently found out that the amount of soda that you drink can have serious health side effects. It can cause you to have kidney stones and can also do damage to your insides such as your colon. I have never had a kidney stone, but I have known people who have and it seems to be a very painful experience that I am not sure I am willing to partake of.
Don’t get me wrong I still drink my fare share of soda, but as I go throughout my day I try to balance out my soda intake with a large amount of water. I try to drink about eight 17 ounce water bottles per day. Not only have I noticed that I am more hydrated, I also don’t feel as tired at the end of the day. I think that if I stop drinking as much soda it will protect my colon from unnecessary build up and protect me from those nasty little things known as kidney stones. Do yourself a favor and protect yourself by drinking more water!
Oatmeal Regulates Digestion - September 5th, 2009
Oatmeal is a great way to get fiber in your diet. I do not like to eat a bowl of oatmeal, but I do have some really great recipes that have oatmeal in them, and I absolutely love them. I have tried a number of times to make myself like eating oatmeal. I know that it is so good for me, but I just can’t handle the texture or the taste of a regular bowl of oatmeal. I have also tried the oatmeal that was made for weight management, or for women’s health, I have tried the flavored oatmeal, in a variety of flavors, and I just can’t make myself eat it.
I have one son who will eat it, but my other children don’t like it either. My husband grew up loving it as well. But try as I might, I just can’t make myself eat it. So, I have just learned that I can incorporate it into these other recipes that I enjoy, and that is just the way I eat my oatmeal. I do like some of the regular breakfast cereals that are oats too, and they aren’t even the sugar coated ones if you can believe that! I guess we can get the sources of healthy food in a variety of ways, we just have to do what we like best.
Fiber & Water - September 2nd, 2009
Have you ever tried Metamucil? Each day my mom gets herself out a glass of water, she then gets a heaping spoonful of this Metamucil powder and stirs it into the glass. She then proceeds to drink the large glass of chalky, fiber water down. I can’t think of doing anything more repulsive! It grosses me out every time I see her do this routine. It must be doing something that she likes though, because for as long as I can remember, she has been drinking the stuff. I wonder if it tastes good. I think the texture alone would make me heave.
Isn’t there a better way? I do think they offer the same thing in a pill form. I wonder why she doesn’t do it that way. Maybe it’s just because as people age, they are so accustomed to doing things a certain way, that to do anything different would throw their whole day out of whack. Very interesting I must say. I think I am going to ask her next time I see her doing this, why it is that she feels so strongly about this Metamucil drink she drinks. Hopefully I don’t make her have a sad day because of it. It really doesn’t affect me, it’s just more of a curiosity issue than anything. If I remember, I will share the results.
Does Coke Have Toxins? - September 2nd, 2009
Have you ever had a large Coke from McDonalds with nothing in your stomach? Well I have a friend that swears by this, but she said that any time she has a large Coke, and it has always been from McDonalds each time, that she has a serious case of diarrhea. I don’t know how that works, but it made me laugh out loud. I seriously wonder how drinking a Coke could do that to you. I think maybe it just happens to do this to her body, who knows. Don’t you think that if drinking a Coke on an empty stomach really did such a thing, that some group of people would have figured it out, and marketed it as a weight loss tool and made a whole lot of money? That’s what I’m thinking.
Maybe I’ll have to give it a test run, and let you know the results of my non-scientific experiment. That sounds like a wonderful idea. Maybe I could even make it into some sort of money in trying this experiment. I could even check with Pepsi and a no name version of a cola drink to see what, if any differences I might find. Maybe, just maybe, this could be my big break in life, experimental soda drinking as a weight loss body cleansing alternative. Humm…
