Fiber One Bars - August 31st, 2009

Well here is a little bit of information that you may or may not want to read.  My eight year old son is quite the little snacker.  He is always wanting to have something to eat.  You would never know it by looking at the kid, he is skin and bones.  If he doesn’t have his shirt on, his ribs are poking out, and someone might think that he never gets a thing to eat.  Not the case.

So, yesterday, I came into the kitchen at two different times, and he was in the cupboard where we keep the snacks, and was getting himself a Fiber One granola bar.  Hey, I am all about keeping yourself regular, but I had no idea what eating two of these bars in one day would do.  He was already half way into eating his second bar for the day, when I reminded him that he had one earlier, and that it probably wasn’t a good idea to have another one.  Well, needless to say, he continued eating his granola bar and said he’d be fine.  He just came in and let me know what the effects of eating two Fiber One bars in one day will do to you.  Apparently it will give you diarrhea.  So, like I said, maybe this is a little too much information, but I thought I’d share.

Yogurt Helps The Digestive System - August 26th, 2009

Yogurt is my friend. I have enjoyed that when I need to get my body feeling a little more regular, I go for the yogurt that has the digestive benefits. I am here to say that they work like a charm. I am one that likes to “keep the motor humming” so to speak. I do have a bit of a concern, however, that I may not be doing enough to keep the colon nice and cleaned. How do you know though? I am not at the age that I need to go into the doctor for the colon check, but I want to keep all of my body in the best possible shape because of all the disease that is out there.

I do have a sister in law that has found that she does have colon polyps, and she is the same age as I am. For that reason, and the many cases we hear about, I just keep it in mind the things I should be doing to keep myself healthy. So, if I do is “keep the motor running” smoothly, I feel like at least the nastiness is not staying in my body rotting away. I try to eat a lot of fiber, and my yogurt that makes me feel good and hopefully keeping my colon clean.

What harm can a colon cleanse do? - August 24th, 2009

Have you ever actually thought about what it means to cleanse your colon? I don’t know if anyone realizes how gross that thought really is. All of the food that you eat that just sits there and never really goes anywhere. Your body does a pretty good job at taking care of this issue. However, what about all of the remaining garbage that gets left behind? There is plenty of stuff that does not naturally get flushed out of your system.

So, the question is. Do you want this extra stuff left in your colon or would you like to know that you are taking care of your colon and at the same time your long term health? Today there are ways to help in this process. By finding the right pill you can help yourself to be more healthy and get rid of the left over colon items that can’t be naturally disposed of. Take a look at these products and find one that you feel comfortable with. Using one of these products truly will make you feel 100% better than you ever have before. You will be amazed how something as simple as a colon cleansing pill will make you fee like a new person.

Colon Cleanse Ingredients - August 22nd, 2009

Does anyone look at all of the ingredients inside of the things that they eat? I know that I don’t and maybe that is because that I don’t care. On the other hand, maybe I should. There are so many additives in foods these days it is hard to even pronounce that things that are in there. The next question is how healthy are these products. It seems that we should be reviewing the things that we take into our bodies.

I realize that these things are regulated and someone is watching this. The problem is while they may be regulated are they any good for you. They may not be dangerous or kill you, but do they do any good for you. The answer, probably not! I should really take a closer look at what is in the foods that I eat. If I don’t know what something is it may not hurt to find out what it is. These days it is not that hard. Jump on the internet and in ten seconds you can find out about anything. So I am going to make a conscious effort to find out what in the world it is that I am eating.

Prune Juice & Cleansing - August 19th, 2009

Is prune juice all it is cracked up to be? I used to help this older lady that lived near to me. She needed a little assistance in getting some normal everyday things, and it made me feel good to help her. Each night she made sure that she drank her serving of prune juice. I would help her get her nightly prune juice ready with her medications that she also took in the evening. Some nights, she would gag it down, and I would wonder if I was going to get back that juice that I had just helped her drink. That is not one of the most pleasant thoughts I can imagine.

I never did get thrown up on, but I did have my share of close calls. She swore that the prune juice was her life saver, and that it was the only thing that kept her body functioning properly. I personally have never tried the stuff. The way it looks, and the way it smells just makes me believe that I wouldn’t be able to even start to get it down my throat. I do have to give my older lady friend some props on that, because she was getting it down each time, and keeping it down as far as I could see. Maybe someday I will find myself in her situation, and prune juice will be the thing that I can count on for regularity as well.

Colon Cleanse Preventing Disease - August 17th, 2009

I just had a question come to mind. If you choose to do one of the popular colon cleanses, choosing any of the large variety of products out there, does it really make your chances of getting a colon type disease such as cancer lessened? As I thought of this, it made me wonder even more. Do these people buying these products think of this too, or are they just looking for the quick fix to lose weight.
Don’t we all want a quick fix to get rid of those nasty extra pounds? I think most of us have some weight we’d love to get rid of. And even if we don’t have extra weight to lose, do any of us think about the chances of getting a colon disease? It probably wouldn’t hurt if we all took a little extra care for our bodies, and maybe did a colon cleanse every now and then. I don’t have all the information and benefits of cleansing, but I have researched enough to know that most of the products we eat as a society have so many additives and preservatives that we don’t always get rid of naturally. Maybe doing a cleanse is the way to go just to feel a little more healthy. It’s something to think about for sure.

Reasons To Detox - July 10th, 2009

My most common reason for detoxing when I was younger was so I could get a lower cholesterol test, which never worked by the way because I did it a few days before, or I wanted to lose a few pounds fast, which I always gained back because it was water weight with the crappy products I used back then, or I did it right before some medical procedure, basically because they told me to.  On that they gave me specific diets to use.

But essentially speaking, if you’ve ever been on drugs, there’s a chance you might want to detox your body to get all the drugs out, stop the physical cravings faster, etc.  You can go through the long and arduous detox, and the mental cravings won’t go away so fast, but it’s certainly worth a try.  But in general, people use detoxes because they want to get rid of brittle hair & nails, allergies, cleansing solvent exposure, pesticides, diuretics, drugs, back pain, headaches, failing memory, and a myriad of other problems.  But even people who don’t realize they have problems with a good detox see the difference after.  It sneaks up on you in a way.  So I would suggest finding a good detox on the just because reasoning.

Colon Cleansing Foods - July 8th, 2009

If you want an easy colon cleansing method that involves diet and certain foods, there are a few foods to pay attention to you. For example, cherries.  Cherries are obvious, because if you eat them too frequently or in too large amounts, even mixed with other foods, you know what problems you are likely to have and you know your body will be getting rid of a lot of waste.  Second is bananas.  Bananas are not commonly thought of.  But they are extremely high in fiber among other things and really help to get things moving.  Then you want to look for raspberries, strawberries, and oranges as well as apples and pears and blueberries.

All of these as you can see so far are high in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, and in some cases they are high in fiber as well.  Then you get into some of the fibers you might not think of right off the bat.  For example, you can eat whole wheat pastas, bran flakes, ground flaxseed added to your food, oatmeal, brown rice, beans, nuts, peas, broccoli, brussels sprouts, corn, and carrots.  All of these are high in nutrients you need, and they will effectively help you to get rid of toxins and naturally detoxify your body in general terms.
