Prepackaged Foods & Toxins - September 22nd, 2009

I am sure we have all heard the expression you are what you eat. I have been giving some thought to this and wondering exactly what that means. Obviously you are not going to turn into a Twinkie the second you eat it or anything else for that matter. I have been doing some research, not scientific by any means, just looking on line at how what you eat can affect your body. I was amazed to find out how certain foods that we eat don’t digest very well and how long they stay in your system once consumed. For example it can take up to 72 hours to digest red meat. That is a long time to have a chunk of meat sitting in your gut.

While on the other hand an apple could easily be digested within just a few hours. What does that food that sits in your digestive track do to your body? It was suggested that we eat more things like apples and other healthy foods to keep our systems clean. If we as eat more healthy things in our daily diet we will be less likely to suffer something such as colon cancer, which is a leading cause of death among Americans. Take a look at what you are eating and then think about how long it is going to sit inside of you. Maybe that will change some of your eating habits.
